American Systems
Corporation (ASC), a multifaceted information technology services
organization, focuses on four primary areas of business in our support of
government agencies, institutions, and commercial organizations. First, we
provide systems engineering and technical services and prepare documentation
to facilitate the design and integration of information technology
applications into electronic data processing and information distribution
systems, command and control systems, communication, sensor and surveillance
systems, simulation trainer systems, and biometric and medical systems.
Second, we provide specialized technical services, including requirements
analysis; design, selection, and procurement of hardware and software from
vendors; integration and installation of enterprise-wide computer networking
solutions that include local area networks and wide area networks;
packaging/cabinet integration; and asset management; as well as integration
and installation of central office network switching modules for public
networks. Third, our Applied Communications Concepts Division provides
technical and engineering services for installation and implementation of
cable plant distribution systems for high speed data, voice, and video
applications, including Air Blown Fiber (ABF), conventional fiber, and
Category 5 UTP cable, as well as installation in asbestos environments and
classified/secure cable plant applications. Fourth, we apply information
technology to training services, including development of interactive
courseware, computer-based training, tele-training, multimedia applications,
distance learning and web-based training.
ASC is divided into
three divisions for the delivery of our IT Professional Services: the Systems
Division, the Applied Communications Concepts Division (ACC), and the
Training Systems Division.
The Systems
Division is experienced in information technology applications associated
with shipboard, shore-site and laboratory combat/command and control systems,
C4ISR systems, and telecommunications systems, including performing
information engineering, system engineering, and system integration
functions. We are experienced in the integration of individual ship
department LANs into ship-wide information and control systems, as well as in
the utilization of information technology in Total Ship Systems Engineering,
integrated electronic technical manuals, video tele-training and tele-conferencing,
computer-based training, computer aided logistics support, and configuration
management. ASC also provides technical support for Information Assurance
tasks.
The Training
Systems Division (TSD) provides IT-based training services, integrates
computer-based electronic simulation systems for training purposes, produces
and installs the systems, and provides support for business process
improvement. TSD’s training professionals are instructional systems design
experts who maintain a solid understanding of adult learning theory and
training systems development. Specific areas of their expertise include media
selection, web-based training, interactive video-teletraining, computer-based
training, instructional videos, instructor led courses,
synchronous/asynchronous training, self-study materials, and training device
fabrication/integration. The training services TSD provides are also
instrumental in helping our clients address their severe shortages of
qualified information technology workers. These shortages, which have
resulted from the rapid advance of technology, the rise of the Internet, and
the overall growth of the economy, are being effectively resolved through
staff augmentation and train-the-trainer programs.
The Applied
Communications Concepts (ACC) Division designs, installs, and integrates
enterprise-wide networking solutions, including local area networks, wide
area networks, inter/intranet applications, and high performance cable plant
systems in support of data, voice, video, wireless, Point of Sale (POS),
audio, and security systems. ACC’s capabilities span the system life cycle,
from initial consulting and design activities; through project planning,
management, physical installation, integration, test, and certification; to
follow-on training, support, and maintenance. We install complex cabling
systems and network components such as phone switches, data switches,
routers, hubs, and PCs in a wide range of structures and environments,
including structured premise distribution systems, campus-wide networks,
outside plant, and shipboard systems. We also install and maintain equipment
and cabling in classified/secure installations and in asbestos environments.
ACC possesses a diverse set of skilled, cleared field technicians and
engineers. Our technicians are vendor-certified and factory trained, and they
hold special security clearances that enable us to support a wide range of
requirements. Our engineers and technicians are certified by the Building
Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) organization as Registered
Communications Distribution Design (RCDD) engineers and LAN Specialists. We
also operate a BICSI-certified training institute to ensure our technicians
and engineers remain current on network technologies and protocols; electric
codes; OSHA policies/regulations; and cable installation, termination, and
test procedures. we provide design, installation, safety, testing, and
distribution fundamentals training to both ASC and non-ASC students. |
